About Toys & Crew

Toys & Crew is a news site for the people who run superyachts: captains, deck crews and the managers who choose what goes on board. We cover what matters to crews: jobs and salaries, life and work on board, the equipment a yacht needs and the water toys guests ride. Port guides cover the Balearics, the Côte d'Azur and Italy, with more regions to follow.

Who we are

Toys & Crew is published by Lakeberg GmbH, the company behind E-SURFER, which began in 2017 as the first blog and YouTube channel about electric surfboards and today also sells eFoils and jetboards. Since 2022 we have worked with superyachts: captains and crews order accessories and spare parts for their water toys from us, and we are in touch with yachts almost every day. The editor is Andreas Lakeberg, founder of E-SURFER.

The editor

Toys & Crew is edited by Andreas Lakeberg. He has been on the water since he was eleven, published online magazines about watersports from 1996 and founded E-SURFER in 2017. Since 2022 he has worked with superyacht captains and crews, and he is the author of eFoil – The Complete Guide. More on his author page.

Why the team behind E-SURFER runs a news site

We spend our days with the products crews ask about: we ride them, charge them, repair them and explain them to first-time riders. And in our daily contact with yachts, crews talk about far more than water toys: jobs and training, contracts, life on board and the rules in port. Many of our topics come from those conversations. For rules, contracts and certificates, we rely on the official sources and link them in every story. Because we also sell some of these products, we are open about the conflict of interest that comes with it.
