How we report
Every story adds something
We do not retell press releases. Every story has a section called “Our take” with our own experience, a comparison or a clear recommendation. If we have nothing to add, we do not publish.
A named person approves every story
Each story is checked and approved by a named editor before it goes live. The editor takes responsibility for its content.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to research sources and to prepare drafts. They never publish anything. Facts are checked against the original source, and every story is edited and approved by a person.
Sources
Each story names its sources at the end, with a link and a date. For news based on a manufacturer's announcement, the press release is linked.
Images
We use our own photos, licensed stock photos or press images that manufacturers release for editorial use. Every image carries a credit; for stock photos, the licence is linked under the story. Where no suitable photo exists, we use an AI-generated illustration. It is always labelled as such directly under the image and never shows a real yacht, person or product.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct it and note the date of the update at the top of the story. Write to editor@toysandcrew.com.
Conflict of interest
Toys & Crew is published by Lakeberg GmbH, Berlin, the company behind E-SURFER, which began in 2017 as the first blog and YouTube channel about electric surfboards and today also sells eFoils and jetboards. We sell some of the brands we write about. That never decides what we cover or how we rate it.
