Forty-nine harbours in Liguria, Tuscany, northern Sardinia and Campania publish figures for yachts of 24 metres and more: 17 in Liguria, 12 in Tuscany, nine in northern Sardinia and 11 in Campania. The largest figure belongs to Stabia Main Port in Castellammare di Stabia, a quay for yachts of 25 to 250 metres with 9 metres of draught.

There is no official Italian list of concessions with berth sizes. Sixteen of the 49 entries are backed at least in part by an authority, such as a port authority, the Portofino marine protected area, the Region of Tuscany or a municipality. The other 33 rely on the marina or its operator.

Which marinas take the largest yachts?

Stabia Main Port is a special case: a quay for "mega and giga yachts" in the commercial harbour, according to the port authority. After that come Marina Molo Vecchio in Genoa (berths stern-to for up to 90 metres and one 150-metre yacht alongside), Marina di Olbia (150 metres), Porto Mirabello in La Spezia (135 metres), Marina Genova at Sestri Ponente (berths up to 130 metres) and Porto Cervo (120 metres, draught 8 metres).

In Campania, Molo Luise in Naples and Marina d'Arechi in Salerno both give 100 metres; Arechi's largest berth category is 130 metres, for a yacht of up to 100 metres. Most harbours on the Ligurian Riviera di Ponente and in Tuscany stop between 24 and 50 metres.

What do the figures mean?

Max. length is the largest figure a harbour publishes. Some sources give a berth size, most give the size of the vessel, and three give tariff classes by vessel length. We mark which one applies. Some figures cover only part of a harbour, such as the Coppola pontoon in Amalfi or the transit quay in Santa Margherita Ligure, whose 2026 tariff runs up to a price class of 76 metres.

Max. draught is the weakest column: only 15 of the 49 entries have a figure, and only Marina di Stabia and Sorrento's Marina Piccola publish length, draught and beam together. Many Italian sites give "fondali", the water depth at the quay, which is not the same as the maximum draught of a yacht. Where it is clearly water depth, we left the column empty. At Molo Vecchio, Varazze and Fezzano it is not clear, and we mark it.

Max. beam is published for only five harbours, and the number of berths of 24 metres and more almost never. Some sources are dated: Chiavari (2017), San Vincenzo (2007/08) and some Region of Tuscany pages (2012 to 2015). Fuel is confirmed at 29 harbours, Fezzano has none, and 19 sources do not say.

Where do the sources disagree?

Where two figures exist, the table shows one and names the other:

  • Loano: 85 metres, but 77 metres on the same site.
  • Varazze: 45 metres, but "5 to 50 metres" on the home page.
  • Scarlino: 38 metres (marina) against 36 metres (municipality).
  • Cala Gavetta, La Maddalena: 50 metres, but 60 metres in the data box of the same page.
  • Marina di Stabia: berth categories up to 90 metres, but "max. length 50 m" on another page of the site.
  • Casamicciola, Ischia: 70 metres at the Molo Barocco (marina website) against 30 metres in the municipal regulations for that zone.
  • Molo Luise, Naples: "Max Draft 11 m" against "Access Draft 7 m" on the same page.
  • Salivoli, Piombino: 24 metres (marina) against 18 metres (Region of Tuscany, 2012).

Two figures may be out of date: Portofino (40 metres, according to the marine protected area) and Molo Luise (100 metres, according to the marina). Newer orders of the local harbour master (Capitaneria di Porto) are reported for both, but we could not access them. Confirm with the harbour office. Restrictions in marine protected areas are covered in our guide to Italian rules for yachts.

D-Marin Livorno's superyacht marina is due by the end of 2026, according to the operator. Porto Rotondo (berths "over 30 metres", no maximum) and Cala Mangiavolpe (only a boat services company) rest on weak evidence.

Where can you clear in?

The EU Schengen Handbook (Annex 4, as of 1 September 2026) lists 19 of these places as sea border crossing points: Ventimiglia, Alassio, Loano, Varazze, Rapallo, Santa Margherita Ligure, Portofino, La Spezia, Marina di Carrara, Viareggio, Livorno, Piombino, Marciana Marina, Porto Cervo, Olbia, Naples, Salerno, Capri and Sorrento. The Handbook names the town, not the marina. Genoa, Portoferraio, La Maddalena, Castellammare di Stabia and Pozzuoli are also listed, but there are several harbours in each, so we do not mark a specific one.

This list covers border checks for people. It is not a customs list, and the customs agency's website was not accessible for this research. Check customs formalities with your agent.

Which harbours are not on the list?

Portosole Sanremo, Porto Lotti, Lavagna, Porto Venere, Porto Azzurro, Cala de' Medici, Procida, Santa Teresa Gallura, Puntaldia and Palau could not be checked. Ischia Porto publishes its tariff only as an image; Porto Santo Stefano, Talamone and Marina di Campo only had third-party pages. Molo Brin in Olbia is still a project, and Positano is a mooring field.
