Underwater scooters beyond the Seabob: Sublue, Lefeet, Suex, Seacraft and Dive Xtras compared
Depth, speed, run time, battery size and prices of underwater scooters for yachts, plus guest age limits, flying with the batteries and a recall.
Next to the Seabob, yachts can carry small leisure scooters such as the Lefeet P1 or Sublue Navbow+, which weigh 2.4 to 4.5 kg and are rated to 40 or 60 metres, or technical diver scooters from Suex, Seacraft and Dive Xtras rated to 100 metres and more. Battery size decides how long they run and whether they can fly.

All figures come from the manufacturers' websites and manuals, checked on 7 October 2026. For the Seabob range, see our guide to Seabob models, specifications and prices; for where scooters are banned, see underwater scooter rules for yachts.
Disclosure: Toys & Crew is published by Lakeberg GmbH, which trades as E-SURFER and sells SEABOB and the mo-jet DivingJet. That is why every brand below is treated the same way: published specifications, price with its tax basis, and what the manufacturer says about charging and care.

Where does the mo-jet DivingJet fit in?
The mo-jet DivingJet BEAST is a different kind of craft: it runs at up to 25 km/h under water and up to 58 km/h on the surface and weighs 47.3 kg. Run time is about 10 to 60 minutes depending on how it is ridden, with a plug-and-play swappable battery (mo-jet); each battery weighs 8.3 kg and charges in about 45 minutes (mo-jet). The maker states neither a depth rating nor the battery capacity in Wh.
Yamaha-branded Seascooters are a licensed product sold by Stallion Sport of Hong Kong (Stallion Sport); their model pages could not be read. For Sea-Doo Seascooter and Bluefin, we found no manufacturer or licensee page.

Who may ride an underwater scooter?
We found no official rule on guests without a diving qualification. What exists comes from manufacturers and the diving agencies:
- Manufacturers: Sublue says the Vapor is for riders aged 16 and over, keeping at least 2 m from other people (Vapor manual); it does not recommend the Navbow+ for under-16s (Navbow+ manual).
- PADI: Discover Scuba Diving, without a certificate, from age 10 to a maximum of 12 m; Bubblemaker for children from 8 to 2 m (PADI). The diver propulsion vehicle course needs an Open Water certificate and a minimum age of 12 (PADI).
- SSI: Try Scuba from age 8, in a pool or sheltered water to 5 m (SSI); scooter diving from 12 to a maximum training depth of 30 m (SSI).
Can the batteries go on a plane?
Under IATA rules, lithium-ion batteries over 100 Wh up to 160 Wh need the airline's approval; spare batteries travel only in hand luggage, at most two of that size per person (IATA DGR 67, Table 2.3.A). Batteries over 160 Wh may not travel in passenger luggage at all, only as dangerous-goods cargo (IATA). The US FAA sets the same limits (FAA).
That puts the Lefeet C1 and P1 under 100 Wh or at it, the MixPro (122 Wh), Navbow+ (158 Wh) and P1 XR (160 Wh) in the approval band, and the Sublue Vapor (384.8 Wh) above the limit. Suex and Seacraft build travel versions from smaller segments: the Suex VR Voyager's 355.6 Wh battery comes in four removable segments (Suex), and Seacraft's GO! and Future Air-Travel batteries are made of 97 Wh segments (GO!; Future). Whether a scooter counts as a portable electronic device under the IATA table, no source says.
Which battery recall should crew know about?
In March 2025, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of the black lithium-ion batteries of the Sublue Mix, also sold as WhiteShark Mix, because of a fire risk: about 40,370 units, with 161 reports of overheating or swelling, including eight fires and one injury (CPSC). Scooters with these batteries should be taken out of use; Sublue swaps them free of charge for a grey battery (Sublue). Recalled batteries do not belong in household waste or shop collection boxes (CPSC), and they may not be taken on a plane unless removed or made safe (FAA).
How should crew charge and care for them?
- Sublue: charge the Vapor only at 5–40 °C; in storage, check the battery at least every three months and charge it to 60 %, and run the scooter for about 10 seconds a month against corrosion (Vapor manual). Clean the Navbow+ within 30 minutes of use by soaking it for 20 minutes in clean water without detergent (Sublue).
- Lefeet: after every dive, soak the P1 for 30 minutes in clean fresh water, run it briefly under water, and take the battery off dry (Lefeet).
Storage and charging rules for all lithium water toys on board are in our guide to lithium batteries on yachts.
What could we not verify?
- An official rule for guests without a diving qualification; only PADI and SSI figures are available, and PADI's scooter-course details come from a 2014 article.
- Data for Yamaha Seascooters, Sea-Doo Seascooter, Bluefin and Geneinno, and the BEAST's depth rating and battery capacity.
